Help! Can't get my wheel off
I took off the plastic bolt cap, then just been pounding on the bolt, counterclockwise.
Am I doing something wrong? I even got an impact wrench (electric). Should still able to get up to 250ft-lb.
I have yank off some wheels before, this one doesn't seem right. Is it correct to loosen it in counterclock wise?

I thought so too.
I really need to have the right tool, a deep 17mm socket and a 24in breaker bar.
Right now I have a std 1/2" 17mm socket, so I have to put on a 12in extension which lessen the torque, and tried to use the 14in 1/2"rachet to loosen it is really not the way to go.
Thanks. I really just want to make sure the bolt is not the reverse pattern.

I carry a snap on 30" straight bar and a plastic protected 17mm deep well all the time
And I've been pretty lucky having no trouble getting bolts out with easy constant pressure.
I think before you break something you might just want to take it to a tire shop and let them get it out for you.

Corrosion? When you do get it off put some high temp anti-seize on the treads before reinstalling...
Torque to 90 ft/lbs.
I hate garages that over torque wheel bolts/nuts with their impact guns.

another thing I just thought of....
...after you spray it with Liquid Wrench, give the bolt a few good whacks (using a screwdriver and mallet...be careful not to scratch the wheel)...supposedly this helps the product seep into the threads.

My experience with electric impacts is mixed. If you use it direct into a dedicated plug-in, no
extension cord, maybe it's delivering spec torque but unlikely. They are still handy for a lot of jobs but taking off wheels put on with an air impact wrench by ham fisted tire jockeys with a bit of corrosion thrown in isn't one of them. Breaker bar is the way to go.
