High speed vibration
Had my 08 RS4 for a few weeks, close to 800 miles now. Between 80 and 90 there is a noticeable but not severe vibration felt in chassis - doesn't happen under 80 and over 90 it seems to go away. Steering wheel does not shake. Tried to swap front and rears and also cleaned up the hubs before remounting but still there (maybe a bit less). Put the winter wheels on and still there. I have re-torqued to spec and did it while the tire was in the air.
Any thoughts?

I have the exact same problem from day 1...
Need to test drive with a tech soon to figure it out. feels like front drive shaft is a bit out of balance. I've done the same as far as rotating tires. Checking runout on wheels (straight as factory wheels can get). Taking load off the front wheels and re-torquing, due to the fact I heard the factory wheels can have loose tolerances as far as being hub-centric. Glad to see I'm not the only who has noticed this... Hopefully the dealer can figure it out!

Re: Thanks for the response, onrails...let me know how things work out after the ride with the tech.
(Eric...no I have not hit any potholes. had the problem driving back from the dealer after delivery. However, that does not mean it didn't happen - or anything else for that matter - during the 90 miles that it logged before I took delivery...)

My B7 S4 had same problem..
Only noticed it above 75 or so mph on interstate, it was a continuous vibration, drop down to speed limit and it was gone. As I sold the car at 2k miles, never bothered to get it looked at.

Re: What Tires are all of you guys running?
OEM 19" with Pirelli Rosso's and 18" 9 spoke B5 RS4 Hartmann replicas with Vredestein snows. Experience the same sensation with both sets of wheels, both sets just recently balanced.
Need some more experienced technical guys to weigh in but I don't understand why it doesn't get worse as you go faster if there is something slighlty off spec in the drivetrain/driveshaft. I want to learn as much as I can before going into the dealer with a fight which I am expecting!
