Any guesses?? After reading all these comments here about carbon buildup I wondering. I'm sure there is some, and wondering what is causing the CEL. I've not noticed a decrease in power, and just put a beatdown on an e46 today on multiple runs. Ill keep everyone posted

It was 54.5 whem my EPC -> CEL came on. Seems like the ECU waits for the warranty to expire. carbon build up was the problem. The ECU detunes the engine depending on the severity of the build up and lack of air flow. Unless you are really sensitive to the cars ability to accelerate or you just got used to it, I can see how one would not notice the lack of power.

I'm at 53k and just threw a CEL. I'm going to try to get it in to the shop this Friday. Then a decision to make, as I've been considering a trade on it. If I keep it, off to Farnbacher for some porting, finish off the downpipes and a custom tune....

Agreed, if you are going to pull the manifold and keep the car, this is the time to do all this stuff. I'm looking into the new MTM ECU

VAG the car. My first thought is carbon build up, but that's just because that's the hot topic for the car. As far as power loss, you won't notice it, because it's slow and gradual... doesn't happen overnight. Let us know.

Oxygen sensor, which is the second dealer to say that. Again, I ran it pretty hard with my brother in laws M5 back in June and I was neck and neck with him from a start up to about 70. The he walked me, or I should say ran me. ..From a roll at 40 to 120 is was a complete joke....Still, I think it is running pretty strong, and certainly much stronger than my B7 S4 ever was.
That said, I'm considering trading the RS4 for either the Q7 tdi or even the touareg tdi, which I much more enjoy the looks of. If I keep it, I may head down to Farnbacher...I'll see if I can dyno the car prior to any work with 55k miles of "build-up."
Oh, and I headed out of the place with a 2010 Q5 for the wife.....
