How about... Rotella T synthetic 5w40?
Possibly the benefits of a diesel oil (resists fuel dilution?), with the other benefits of a synthetic? Happens to have the AoA recommended weight also.
Picked up a few gallons of this today, thought I'd make it my contribution to the body of knowledge here re RS4 oils. Do I need a "baseline" UOA on my engine using a 502 oil first? Should I accumulate a certain number of miles on my engine (it currently has 1200, still on factory fill) first to yield meaningful results?

You might contact Terry Dyson first and pay him to consult to you
There are reasons he had me test Rotella T CJ-4 10W-30.
The Rotella T synthetic does not meet the CJ-4 standard. As a result, the additive package may cause excessive deposits in your engine. I'd be very careful doing this without professional advise. Otherwise stay with Audi 502 oils. If your engine breaks with a non-approved oil, you've just bought yourself a new engine out of warranty, unless you can prove due-diligence.
I would no more choose my own non-approved oil than I would choose my owe medications. I'm not a doctor, I'm not an expert on oil, but I know people who are. They called doctors and tribologists.

"Tribologist"? What does the Amazon have to do with anything here?
That's the problem with diesel oils used in gas engines that I think I alluded to about 20 times earlier. The add package doesn't match up, and they ARE NOT advised for use in gas engines, generally.
Some actually meet both specs, which makes you wonder how good they could really be for either.

That's what I use in my TDI. Any left over I'll take it. ;)
This is Willie my TDI. Always forgiving, always yielding 50 MPG, always slower than the slowest.
