Default How do the PS2 tires do in cold (30-40F) conditions, no snow .. ?

Because my RS4 is arriving in December (I'm up in Boston) and I don't feel like putting snow tires on for half a season.. my IS300 is just fine for snowy days.

The question is how the Michelin Pilot Sport SP2s handle in near freezing but dry conditions.

Bad idea?

Terrible. The tires lose significant grip a those temperatures.

Around and below 30 they get very hard...really looses cornering grip and traction...hockey pucks.

they're lousy at 80F, so I suspect twice as lousy at 40F.

If you can afford an RS4, you can afford a wheel and tire winter package from Tirerack

Exactly how fast do you expect to be going when roads are most likely to be dotted w/ potholes?
