How is the RS6 Avant gonna pull 1.2G?
This article claims that it will be able to pull up to 1.2G, presumably in stock form.
The RS4 doesn't pull close to 1G, so how the hell is this car going to do that much better? As far as I know it still has the engine in the same front hanging configuration, unlike the S5.

http://www.carupdate.com.au/2064/audi-rs6-avant-coming-to-australia-in-july-2008/</a

Are you kidding?
I think you are kidding right?
A V10 has to be heavier, the turbos on top of it, the car is heavier and I would imagine that the dry sum means a lower COG, but how much can that help?
Does a Z06 get 1.2G? The RS6? Look I would love it if true, but this sounds like BS to me.

that was my question too
i think this is heavy handed marketing by Audi, or their minions writing the article. a car like the R8 can't do 1.2, but the S6 wagon is going to? hmmm.
i suppose if they have the driver laying flat on his belly and steering thru the floorboard.

Too bad they are installing that crap on the RS6! Now on to the question at hand...
They are not saying you will pull 1.2Gs in the corners, they are relating to the fact that the engine is dry sumped (like in the R8) and that it can withstand up to 1.2Gs without affecting the engine's components.
Just my $0.02.
Just my $0.02.

i think what they are saying is that the sump system is that capable. not necessarily that
the car would ever actually see that kind of force.
the quote:
"A pure race bred `dry sump' system ensures an enthused driver can throw the RS6 into corners at up to 1.2 G in lateral force without starving the engine and turbo compressors of vital oil lubrication."

I think you're right, although to report that is somewhat an attempt to mislead.
That's like saying the engine in that car can power a vehicle to 60mph in 1 second. If the vehicle weight 50 pounds.

What would you rather them put in the car? PASM?
I suppose an Audi-like PASM would be better.
Is the reason they keep clinging to DRC simply because they are trying to save face?
Or is it that it does quite well enough for the intended audience?
I wish I had the option to have the SS+ installed here without having to go through warranty hoops and all this aftermarket nonsense.
Again Audi needs to provide American customers more choices. They are trying to be top dog here right?
