Default How soon did you do your first oil change?

Just curious: I think the manual suggests doing the first oil change at 5000 miles. Did most people follow this guideline?

Will Audi still pay for the first oil change if the owner does it before recommended in the manual....?

Also my dealer told me the RS4 takes the same oil that the S4 uses. I thought that the RS4 took a 'special' oil.

Thanks for sharing your opinions...

Default I changed mine at 1,800 miles after break-in. No, I had to pay for that out-of-schedule oil change.

The RS4 uses the same oil the RS6 uses, not the same as an S4.

5000. Audi pays for the first one no matter when you do it.

Default I did it after 2.4K and Audi paid for it. Dealer said it was so close to 2.5K that AOA let it go....

I think it depends on the dealer but as you can see below Bob. W says they pay for the first anyway.

Default I did at 1800 miles, but I'd recommend having it changed at 1500, 3000 and 5000

along with the oil filter, in order to get rid of the factory oil, the break-in metals and silicon, and the fuel that this engine likes to dump into the oil.

There's nothing special about RS4 oil. AoA requires VW 502.00 spec oil, in 5W-40, 0W-40, or 5W-30 weights.

Changed mine at 3,000 miles myself. And I used MB1 0w-40, same as I used in my S4

I think doing the initial change early is a good idea. 2500 is probably a good point, if not earlier, as RI RS4 says. Although I don't know that I'd do 3 by 5000 miles. The stuff that's going on in the engine and oil is hardly unique to the RS4...cept maybe that high fuel dilution.

2k miles only because I planned on tracking it, then 5k miles at scheduled service.
