I need a new front windshield for my RS4
I am told that my options are PPG, Pilkington or the dealer Audi glass. Do any of you have an opinion on what the best glass is?
Thanks
Thanks

go look at te oem windshield...
who makes that glass?
just make sure the replacement is the same company
Audi does NOT make glass, they buy it
installation is as important as the material
just checked: Saint-Gobain

GO OEM....
I tried to save a few bucks and replace a windshield with non OEM and after the 3rd delivery of the wrong glass we went to Audi and got the right one. BTW there is a gasket for the rain sensor that you need to buy. Find out what glass shop does the Dealer replacements you'l find the OEM glass isn't much more than the others if you go through the Glass shop.

Not too long ago, I had to replace the windshield on my '07 S4. I asked the dealer for the lowest price he can give me because I didn't want to go non-OEM. I paid $435 installed and they did a great job. No reason to look elsewhere.

I had oem (Pilkington) glass put on my e46 m3 by an indepenent glass shop...$190, gasket included...looked perfect, no distortion, no leaks so far (70k miles)
oem glass on the RS4 is Saint-Gobain...
oem = original equipment manufacturer...
Audi doesn't make brakes, seats, wheels/tires, instruments, pistons or glass...
they buy almost everything except the body shell, block, head, etc.
Audi does not make glass, the ONLY difference is an Audi logo...
do what you like, but don't think a/m Saint-Gobain glass is any different than what you buy from the dealer...
I do agree, do not use a non-oem mfg, ie, Pilkington (BMW), PPG, etc.

I would also suggest going through the dealer for an OEM.
I had an 02 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited and it had the rain sensor.
I had a independent person do it just before I sold the truck (I promised I would replace it since it had a big crack). Low and behold it was a nose bleed to find it (it had to be a OEM due to the rain sensor). Also he did not replace the rain sensor thus it did not operate properly as I am sure it got messed up.
It did not cost me anything since I have a 0 dollar deductible for glass.
cheers

I had mine replaced with Pilkington. No issue. Except I got another chip and the crack is growing. Funny, this crack is growing much slower than the audi glass. In matter of 3 hours, my Audi glass crack grew from inch to 4 inch under the sun. The Pilkington is growing too, but much slower even under the spring heat wave in bayarea. Maybe just the nature of the crack.
I actually looked into the glass from dealer, it was $300 with the gasket. Cheaper than I thought, then again, parts only. But since I had the windshield insurance, I decided just let them handle it and pay the $100 deductible and be done with that.
The recommended mobil glass people knew what they were doing and got the glass/gasket. Installed and went through the winter with out leak or noise issue.

OE St. Gobain all the way, you don't want to make compromises on something like that. Installed at dealer to ensure rain sensor works and craftmanship/install is guaranteed.
BTW, I think in Europe they had a solar glass option (as in the A8 option list), wonder if you can order that.

I had my B7 A4 rain sensored glass replaced by Safelite and it went in and looked great and to boot it had the Audi symbol on it. Cost to me $50. Thanks to glass coverage.
