he claimed that the resale value would be siginifcantly hurt if I ordered Silver. He says the value he pays for trade ins are not as high when they are silver cars.
He also said the 25Q S4 did horribly and in large part he feels due to the color.
What do you guys think?

silver is one of the most popular colors for ANY car.
if he's right, why isn't silver a 'sold order only' color for the A4/S4? silver is a popular color....something like 25% of all Audis manufactured are silver.

that's BS. if anything, avus together with daytona and black are considered the "safe" colors...
and will have the better resale over sprint, misano, and imola.
The 25Q S4 did horribly not because of the color, but simply because it's a grossly overpriced bag of bolts that was targeted towards only the very few audi fanatics who though it would be cool to own a 25th anniversary something from Audi because quattro is cool. The 25Q S4 msrp'd at only about $4-5k shy of a base RS4 and all you get are some cosmetic tweaks, special DTM-style rims that really aren't even better looking than the stockers and a "1 of 250" medal. Now that is weak sauce.
I'd say tell your dealer to stfu and change your car to avus like you wanted.

ACTUALLY, silver/gray is the most popular color today.
It woulds be much easier to sell a used car since it would appeal to more potential buyers. BTW, red colored "sports cars" command a slightly higher used car price. We can debate whether you believe that the RS4 is a sports car or not.

I bought a car at New Country Porsche, they bend over backwards to help me...
get what I want. I've almost bought two other cars there, and balked...and they're still working just as hard...ok...I tipped them when I balked on the 996tts.
I don't get the Audi prob. I shop with David Slavin at Mohegan Lake Motors... they are extremely hard working when it comes to making customers happy.
Speak to the sales manager, or just bail from that dealership.
Mohegan Lake also gets me financing when it seems impossible.
