I used Anti-seize on the lug bolts! Stupid or OK?
I was bugged by the corrosion on the lug bolts when I installed my new rims and snow tires on my RS-4 today...so I put some silver anti-seize on the bolts. I then read the manual and it say "No Lubricants". A quick check of various web sites suggests I did something stupid. Seems the lubrication results in much higher stress on the bolts at the same torque value and the lug bolts can back out.
It looks as is I'll be working to clean out the threads unless someone tells me there is really no problem.

I use it all the time....no problem.
just don't use a LOT of it....just one thin bead across the threads. I don't see how stress would increase at the same torque...makes no sense. Consider the alternative, the bolt seizes...then you have to apply MORE torque and very likely gum up the treads or even shear a bolt.
used in moderation, anti-seize is a good product.
