hey everyone,

I'm am in the market for a b7 RS4 and would love to have an avant. my assumption is that it would be relatively easy to import one as there are both b7 RS4 sedans and cabs and b7 A4/S4 avants here in the states. but I'm wondering if anyone has any advice on how I might go about importing one? or if anyone has tried and failed/given up? would it be possible pull off all the badges and to try to pass it off as a S4 avant for registration purposes?

You'll be able to do it when the car hits 25 years old.

You can find a list of E-Z to import cars on the NHTSA website. There are very few Audis on the list.

isn't it 15 years? I thought it was. I hear lots of B5 guys doing a dance every January 1st as they're 1 year closer to 2016 when they can bring over a B5 RS4 lol.

It is twenty five years.

There is an RS4 (and S4, A4) on the e-z to import list. It shows 2000-2001 (year produced) only.

It's 15 years for a JDM vehicle. Didnt know a European vehicle was different.
