Default JL audio 8W7 subwoofer added to stock Bose system.......Amazing results!!!!!

Well, the install is finished and working. The results are astounding, surpassing all my expectations. The top-of-the-line JL 8" little monster is powered by a JL audio 250 watt mono amp. I spliced directly into the stock rear speaker lines coming off the Bose amp.

It is simply amazing how the enitre sound has been transformed. It is rich and full. I now have my treble turned up 2 notches and my bass control set down one notch.

The decision to go with this 8" sub was to get plenty of punch and high sound quality but also to have a driver size that would have a frequency range that mated seamlessly with the stock system. A larger sub would produce deeper bass, but the upper/mid bass transfer point may have been compromised.

That argument not withstanding, the 8W7 hits HARD. You can't even imagine that this is an 8" sub.

For anyone disappointed with the stock Bose system but not wanting to gut the entire system, this is a great way to go. With the Bose drivers free to focus on mids/highs, the system completely rocks!!!!

pics here

Default Nice...

But Bose car audio has always meant 'no highs and no lows'. You have the lows taken care of. Now you should consider doing this... Click. Makes a WORLD of difference. So many notes not even produced by the Blose speakers.

Btw... I know where you can get them for $119.

Default So you're amplifying an already amplified signal? If so, not exactly Hi-Fi.

But if you're happy with the results, that's all that matters!

Default Forget about theory...the real world results are what counts.....

The JL amp has a built in Line Output converter of very high quality to accept high level inputs. Also, with such a powerful amp for this application, I have the input sensitivity dialed down to 40%. Whatever....in the end, the SOUND is what counts. I have a very good home theater system and a full custom audio system in one of my other vehicles and the performance of this sub in it's current configuration is in no way less. Clean, tight bass. No audible distortion whatsoever. Like I said, I was amazed at how good it sounds, but it really does.
