Just crawled over my first GTR-35
Well,
What can i say.. the GTR was in Sydney today for one day only.. at a city location for public viewing.
Dropped my RS off to have track wheels fitted as i have a track day tomorrow and jumped in a cab headed for what might be my next car full of excitement.
To all those people out there (mostly bm drivers from m3 post) who said this car is "fuggly" ..........it aint, in fact i nearly fell over at how unbelievably hot it is.
This car is stunning in the flesh !! this model was silver /black / shadow wheels ..oh and those big gold brembos yummy.
In the flesh, it does not look too big / nose heavy /tacky / jap crap..etc in the flesh this car looks German build quality inside and out!!
i kid you not.
Words cannot describe how hot this car is, the nose, oh that *** end !! the chrome quad pipes...the tail lights...oh and that interior!!!
As far as car designs go, take the book, tear it up, pure petrol on it and burn every memory of every car design youve ever seen . this could be the best coupe design in the history of the automobile...... and its 4 wheel drive.
God willing this is my next car..
due here 2009 , my name is on the list, but Nissan Australia are refusing to take deposits.
No wonder the BM boyz are taking shots at it, for the m3 its game over already.

Re: Just crawled over my first GTR-35
There are quite a few private import zooming around here already and they are damn fast, to say the least. I rode in one the other day and came away very impressed. However, I wouldn't go so far as to drop my order of the R8 and go for the GTR instead. The GTR is not beautiful but it's very aggressive looking and huge. I was actually surprised by how big it is. The other thing that I noticed is how uncompromising the ride is, even with the suspension set to the softest. I guess it is fair given the potential performance. As a result it would be very hard to use it as a day to day car, which to me is quite important. The RS4 and to a larger extend the R8, are a much better day to day car then the GTR.

hmmm
yeah i would have to think about dropping an R8 for it.
but the GTR is 100k less than an R8 here in oz so its in the m3/cayman s /c63 - line of fire, and there is no doubt i would pick it over these any day..

you're assuming no mark-up...is that even an issue in Oz?
base price here in the US is also in the M3/RS4/C63 range, but supposedly the early GTRs are going for $50k+(USD) above that...solidly into the price territory of the R8 and close to the 997TT.
personally, if I'm spending that on a Nissan, there better be a supermodel in the passenger seat.

Re: hmmm
It is in the same price bucket for those car that you mentioned here as well, with the exception of the M3. For some reason (arrogant maybe), the local BMW distributor thought that it would be a good idea to charge a 10% premium over the RS4 and 20% over the C63. The result is 95% deposit refunded or changed to another model. I have not seen 1 single M3 on the street here yet, which is extremely unusual for Hong Kong.
Getting back to the GTR, I guess it appeals to certain people and the $ per hp is extremely attractive but if I have to drive it day to day then it may not be such a good proposition. Just my 0.2 cents
