just got the new Road & Track in the mail today....
...full test of the R8.
R8 0-60 4.3s, 1/4mi 12.7s @111.0mph
RS4 0-60 4.3s, 1/4mi 12.8s @109.7mph
R8 $124,100 (est.) price, as tested.

Well, you're getting some exotic there, even if the speed isn't the difference.
I would suspect both those R&T numbers though. I've seen the R8 at 4.1 and the RS4 more like 4.5 to 4.8.

This doesn't make any sense. Isn't the R8 around 500lbs lighter? If these numbers are correct, then the car must be geared quite a bit differently -- which I suppose makes sense anyway -- and from 100mph and on the R8 will lay the smack down on the RS4 (not even considering the aero advantage).
The R8 looks tempting, but at $124k I'd go w/ the 997GT3 for $18k less.

Nice try Bob, but an R8 is an R8, while an RS4 is an RS4 two totally different cars
I find this comparison facinating when coming from those who routinely poo poo comparison of any car to their beloved RS4.
