Default K&N for the RS4? Yup. 33-2209

Guys;
Just installed a 33-2209 K&N on my 07 RS4. Throttle response was improved, but no real "kick in the pants" from any large power gains.

A cold air intake is in the works by K&N.

The K&N panel filter is a simple replacement, although getting the stock airbox apart takes a few minutes.

We did not dyno the vehicle before or after, but K&N estimates that on this motor, expect gains of up to 5hp....and it'll be the last air filter you'll ever have to buy

Default Wanna bet?

No one has done this mod on an RS4...I've checked every RS4 forum around the globe.

Therefore, and knowing what I know about the true causes of MAF failure, I have great confidence.

However, I will happily report any issues and share my experiences here.

Default You ought to have done a before and after UOA

Otherwise, you'll never know if you're ingesting more crap into your motor than you'd like. K&N filters are great for increasing air flow at the expense of filtering.

Default I thought MAF's don't like oil around them...

and some is bound to get thru.

Default Many filters are oil impregnated and do not cause MAF issues

Generally it's an issue of improper cleaning of the filter and application of the oil.

Default Then there's that too...

I tend to disagree about an oil treated air filter and it's effect on the MAF.

Default

don't they claim it filters *better* than paper element filters?

Default So they claim...

but, you can't have it both ways. If it allows more air flow, it typically will trap less particles.

Their big claim to offset this notion is that their filtering element is highly advanced...which I find highly doubtful.

Sure you can have it both ways if the new filter has more surface area
