Keyless entry, makes me pause...
Had to travel and rent a car this weekend. So i'm cruising around town in my rented 2009 Toyota Camry Hybrid looking like a total lame-o. This car has what seems like 10HP and absolutely no handling. It also has keyless entry, ok, cool. Should be fun right? Wrong !!!
Now i'm no techno newb, i can hang with the best of the geeks out there for the most part, but this thing is just ridiculous. The cars computer can't sense the key FOB more than 50% of the time and keeps on beeping and won't respond to lock/unlock commands i enter on the FOB.
On to the good part. The car went into a fit last evening after arriving at my destination, so i locked it manually and figured it would just turn itself off. surprise, i come out at exactly the right time to make it to the airport and back home, and the battery is dead! the thing went nuts all night long.
Moral of the story, don't buy keyless entry unless you've tried it and liked it. I never felt so good about getting back into my RS4 with a real key, my delusions about a superior system have been stymied for now.
I pray Audi has a superior system, because this one on the Toyota sucks big time.

The keyless on our Lexus IS250 is working fine...maybe the battery on the remote is dead on your
rental. On the Lexus, u have to put it right next to the push start button in case your battery run low.

what are you trying to access through the screen? pairing?
I don't even have the NAV/Media Server manual (dealer didn't give us one) and we've been able to figure out most of the functions. I still don't know what that little **** on the lower right does...any idea? I messed around with it the other day, and it doesn't seem to do anything, lol.

Japanese electronics are vastly superior to German
and slightly better than American. I don't know why the Europeans still have such problems with reliable electronics in their cars. From bulbs burning out constantly to sunroofs opening by themselves.
