Default Laguna Seca Track day

1 session from a laguna seca track day with track masters. I was trying out my contourhd, i like the 135 degree angle where you can see the rear view mirrors. the 2nd lap was my quickest of the day, did around a 1:50:

Sweet!

I've done track days on my bike before, but never in a car. I'm very familiar with the process on a bike:

• Find a organization that sponsors track days and sign up for one near you
• Prep the bike (tape all lights, etc)
• Get a set of leathers
• Find a friend with a pickup or rent a trailer to get the bike to the track
• Sign-in, pass tech inspection and enjoy the day
•*First-time riders have to take a rider training course the first half of the day

What is the process for a car? Is it similar? New Jersey Motorsports Park is pretty close to me. TeamPromotion does a lot of bike track days there. Is there a similar organization for cars? Are there any mods that need to be done to the car? Other than wear on your brakes and tires, are track days bad for the car? I know there are a lot of crashes during bike track days, but typically not between riders. My fear is that somebody is going to crash into my car and insurance isn't going to cover it. Is this a realistic fear?

Sorry to sound like a total newb.

Way to use up all of the track!!
That looks like a great track to run at. I really have to get out and try a larger track. My home track is very tight and short, really quite low speed but can be challenging on brakes. Just picked up a set of Carbotech XP10's today. Can't wait to try them out.

Just had a look at my last track day lap times as gathered by the iPhone app "Harry's GPS lap timer." Really fun and useful info for a ten buck app. Def. worth a try.

Way to take full advantage of the car!

BTW are you on stock suspension? I recently put on the Hotchkis anti roll bar set and I think I quite like the difference but the car is a little more sensitive to throttle and other inputs at the limit. Wonder if you can comment?

Default Since we are sharing

Below is the link to the video of Watkins Glen last month. Windshield mount with telemetry. The car is stock with stock brakes so I tried to take it a little easy on them. The first time with the RS4 on the track. Big difference from my old B7 S4.

Either link should work.
