Default Laser Diffuser

I have the K-40 Calibre installed on my RS - maybe not the best choice, but that's what I've got currently.

Anyway, I've been pretty impressed with its radar detection capablility so far. No tickets or warnings (knocks on wood).

Until yesterday I was unaware of any laser targeting while I was on the highway.

Cruising the interstate at about 85 (in a 60 zone), a new alert tone went off with some extreme urgency. Sure enough a state trooper had me targeted.

He never even blinked as I went by (slower than 85).

My question is this: What did his readout show? Error? Legal speed? Nothing?

If you have an RS4, or any other car of a similar ilk that encourages superlegal speeds, I highly recommend some sort of detection, jamming device.

Default Well depending on the gun....

and the radar diffusers either the speed bounces all over the place so 10-80-20-15-70-45-35 etc... which will typically force the gun to throw and error or sometimes the gun just throws and Junk error meaning it isn't getting a good response from its signals. I know if these guns get a different speed (thats far off from the last one) and it fluctiates a lot the gun thinks something is wrong with it so it throws an error. Most of the difussers sample the signal they get then send back some kind of junk signal.

Long story short he either saw a bunch of funky readings or he saw an error, most likely the latter.

Default Well.. if you are talking about ACTIVE laser jamming (the only real solution IMO) then

www.radardetector.net
www.guysoflidar. (com? or net?)

There are some videos on there of what happens when you try to read a speed off of a car that jams.

Turns out, LIDAR guns have a error code that indicates that it is being jammed.. BUT, most (of the better) LIDAR jammers don't produce this signal.

They produce another error signal that looks like its related to an equipment failure. I think Laser Atlanta is the only one that correctly can indicate it is being jammer against a wide variety of jammers.

I can attest to this because last year I got blasted by LIDAR at night from 500-700ft? my Lidatek LE30 went off and as I drove by I saw the cop turn on his dome light and look at his gun as if something was wrong. I was laughing my *** off..

But a shifter? I'm honestly not sure and not even sure it would work. You can check the real info on radardetector.net

Default Do you have front and rear or front only on your Lidatek? Regular or bluetooth?

PS: Does your radar detector have the remote display?

Default Someone does. I didn't see it on the Lidatek site.

I was posted on oone of the forums with a picture of the Driver Information Displayed in between the Spedo and Tach. I'll search for it.

Did multiple STFA, too stupid to find it. Had picture of the display with the laser alert on it.

Default Re: Laser Diffuser

Thought I'd jump in even though I'm from the A4 board. I'm a cop in NJ and I have been "jammed" before. Unfortunately for the most driver's with these devices, which are highly illegal, when I see them ripping by at 100MPH+, my visual observation is all I need to get them. Granted, it's not a speeding ticket but rather a careless driving ticket. Just my $.02.
