Lidatek 2, Cop 0
Last Wednesday and Thursday there was a cop hiding on a 30mph road right around the block from my house where most of the locals go 50 to 60mph everyday.
On Wednesday I was going about 50mph, like I and most locals do, when my Lidatek went off. I didn't even know where the cop was b/c there has never been one around there before, but I slowed down to 30mph and looked around. When I spotted him he was hitting me again with the laser, but since I was already going 30mph he didn't come after me.
On Thursday I was ready for him to be there again, so this time I was going around 40mph when my Lidatek went off again. Just like Wednesday he was trying to hit me again when I passed him, but by that time I was going 30mph.
So, even though many people have told me if I don't have a front license plate a cop will aim for the headlights or somewhere other then the license plate area, it seems that this cop was aiming right at the plate area.
If you would like to see where mine is mounted just click the link below in my sig.
It's really too bad Lidatek isn't around anymore, b/c I love this thing :-)

So true. Lidatek claims that they'll be back...
I just got zapped last week by my city police - no ticket - Lidatek neutralized the threat. That cop was a really crappy aim and sprayed me good, because my V1 mounted by the rearview mirror also sounded off.
Don't you just LOVE the look on the cops face when you drive by?

I'm 1-0 with LPP but had some fun last week too
My first encounter was on I-95 just past exit 92 in CT. I've encountered CT State police here before. I was doing about 90mph. The LPP and my 8500 started going off at the same time. I was proabably about 1500 feet when he started "painting" me. I slowed to 70, flipped the LPP off and about 3 sec later my 8500 stopped signaling. I'm guessing he locked me in at about 70..
Even better was just a week ago. I wasn't speeding, and was coming just over the bridge in New London. It slows to a 50 in that area. THere is almost always a cop or rescue vehicle in the median. Well, I am on the phone when all of a sudden the LPP starts alerting followed by the 8500 perhaps .5 sec later. It was later, but very close. THis time, I just kept going. Left the LPP on and I was targeted all the way up to the cop. I'm guessing he could not lock a speed and kept on "painting" me. A little risky, as I have no front license plate which is illegal in CT.
So far I am very happy with the LPP. However, don't forget, even if the LPP is near perfect in its jamming ability, a smart cop with instant on will nail you almost EVERY time. Fortunately most are not that smart, or more likely get a little lazy, leaving their gun always on, making easy detection a cinch with a decent detector.
Its been tested over and over, and even when it was known exactly where the cop was, the guys on radardetector.net were clipped off everytime by instant on. I think they were able to drop 7mph at most. If you are alone on the road, you gotta be alert. And if you are busting the barrier at 100mph plus(who would ever do that in their RS4?), you're most likely getting cuffed and stuffed..

"a smart cop with instant on will nail you almost EVERY time"-Lidar is instant on by definition
Hmm.. Or are you referring to switching over to Instant on Radar? There's no way they would do that fast enough to get you at your original speed... at least not in a "real world" scenario where LIDAR jammers are still relatively rare.

Ya.. Love my Lidatek on my Lexus IS300, but switched to LPP on my RS4
LPP hasn't been hit yet
Lidatek is 3-0 so far. The cop that got jammed in CT (pitch black night, he was dark) was SO confused he flicked on his dome light and started inspecting his LIDAR gun like it was broken.. LOL

Ok.. got it.. you basically meant Instant-On radar will nail you every time - Agreed
but most cops tend to think that LIDAR is the way to go because its new and fancy.. plus the LIDAR companies are pushing the police depts to purchase LIDAR guns and discard their radar.
All excellent things for those of us with LIDAR jammers

I have been hit with Laser twice and my CALIBRE Laser Protection has jammed their guns both.......
times. Both times they were standing road side holding a laser gun with a shoulder stock so that I could see their expressions. You ought to see the look of confusion on their face as I go by and the gun errors out. I have lost track of the number of times it has warned me for Radar. I did get pulled over once as he immediately popped me turning onto another street. I had him looking around in my car for a dash mounted unit. Thank God he didn't pull the trigger on the hand held as my CALIBRE was still on and would have gone off. I might have left with more than a warning. (I should add that I never drive above the posted speed or disregard any local laws and I would suggest you do the same). ;-)

Yeah..instant on radar........
I just want to make sure no one starts to feel invincible with a top line radardetector and a laser jammer...Check out the guys of lidar testing....Even when they knew where the radar was....with instructions to hit the brakes hard once the 8500 or Valentine went off....their Viper was nailed every single time....You will never have those reflexes in real life...just waiting to jam the brakes....
Fortunately, most Cops are not that skilled...I
The calibre seems to have improved a ton. Its first generation radar detector was a real POS, but their latest version has performed well recently, but not near up to snuff of the valentine, bel or escort. My thoughts are it will still give you enough time to slow down when hit by laser. That is all you really need. You actually want the cop to get a reading on you, once you have slowed, so that he never even knows you have a jammer. Keeping the thing on and jamming to gun is not the best way to use these things...though as i said earlier it can be fun!
Hopefully some non biased tests come out soon, as the Calibre blue tooth seem great, as well as it can be very well hidden. It's pricey, but really no more than a nice detector and a full LPP or Lidatek system(if you can still get one). In my research I found a number of guys in the porsche and vette forums that have been nailed hard with calibre and laser. I'm glad it is working for you...
