Looks like RS4 will still hold it's edge against the 'NEW' M3
Quote:
"With the Audi RS4 packing 420 hp from its 4.2-liter V8, the yet-to-be-unveiled Mercedes-Benz C63 said to get around 450 hp from its enormous 6.3-liter V8, and the upcoming Lexus IS-F touting 400 hp from its 5.0-liter V8, it's clear BMW's engine will need more than its existing 333 hp. We've heard 415 hp, unofficially. Torque should also increase from today's 262 lb-ft to more than 300 lb-ft. That should be sufficient to give the new car a 0-to-60-mph acceleration time of around 5.0 seconds, some 0.2 second faster than its predecessor."<ul><li><a href="http://www.autoweek.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070119/FREE/70115009/1528/FREE">Autoweek_M3</a></li></ul>

Very true. The new M3 is going to outperform the RS4 in every way...
on dry conditions at least. You can pretty much bet BMW has had the RS4 in their crosshairs ever since the RS4 arrived and developed the M3 using it as one of their "benchmarks" including the previous E46. With the 335i coupe weighing in at 3600 lbs, it's very realistic that the VB M3 will arrive at about the same weight despite the larger engine thanks to use of lighter components and select aluminum body panels like Audi has done on the RS4. The only difference is that BMW's implementation of light weight materials will actually result in weight savings.
But so what? It should be a better car performance-wise. The new M3 won't arrive until the RS4 will be nearly 2 years old. And based on pictures and how the current E90 coupe looks like, the RS4 still retains the styling edge.

I would bet that a full exhaust would make it pretty close. Add the full Stasis...
treatment and you will still be under the M3 sticker with similar or better performance in an all wheel drive. I know the driving experience will be different in RWD M3, but I think the RS4 will always beat the M3's interior finish and comfort. For me that is a big deal because I unfortunately spend more time in traffic than at the track.

Man, that this is good looking. What did they do, murder Bangle or something?
And whatever happened to the plan to put the S62 (E39 M5 motor) in the M3?

notice the caption at the bottom of those pics....

That means they're photochopped. The same pics appeared in a recent issue of Car...and it's been posted elsewhere that they were identified as fakes by a BMW UK marketing rep.
