Magnaflow...
So after much deliberation, I ended up getting the magnaflow exhaust and ceramic coating the tips, I should have done the whole muffler as the silver on the backside make the tips appear smaller than they are. One thing is is that this exhaust is way too damn loud. I am actually putting in some resonators tomorrow as I have gotten too old for this loudness. Overall the build of the system is excellent. I think we rs4 owners are very fortunate that magnaflow (a company that can bring a similar quality exhaust at a much cheaper price) built a system for this car. I think it was only done because there was a magnaflow rs4 in last years bullrun.

Interesting... some have described the muffler as quiter than stock until you mash the pedal down.
Would you describe this as accurate? how much more noise while just crusing down the highway at 80?

Between 2-3k rpms, loud and obnoxious...
From 3-4k+ louder but tolerable. At highway speeds not an issue. I mainly purchased for weight savings, as hp gains are pretty negligible. That being said, I hope resonators will make the noise tolerable again or else I'll probably be going back with stock.

i need to get my tips and mufflers done too. i don't think the magnaflows are too loud though. all comes down to preference though. i thought my blown z06 with straight pipes was great whereas most people would not be able to stand it.
how much was it to do the tips? did you get a quote for doing the mufflers too? also, is ceramic coating something a paint shop can do?

Ceramic coating...
is only done at specialty shops. It's was $100 to do the tips. You need to look up high temp paint in your area that would be able to do the work. Polydyn in Houton, TX did my tips. In terms of the noise, I do agree that it's a matter of personal preference, but I need more silence.

Try living with it for a few days.
After a little while, mine seemed not so loud anymore. Except in my underground parking garage, it really makes people look when I fire it up (but I kind of like that).

Hairdressers are used to loud noises from their hairdryers...
A similarly loud noise. Have you sought out help for your weird obsession with hairdressers. Maybe your therapist could work on that with you at your next session.

I have had it on since thursday...
I don't mind the sound while I'm pressing down the throttle, but I think the resonators might help during idle and at slower cruising speeds.
