Maybe a cluch issue?
So this morning a Carrera S and I go at from a light and as soon as I hit 2nd gear the pedal goes dead (it would only return half way from the floor)! I try pumping it and it will not return all the way. I put my foot under the pedal and pull it all the way up. Seems to have fixed the problem but this seems a little scary.
Has anyone had this problem? I know there was some sort of clutch hose issue with early RS4's but mine is a mid 07.
Thanks,
Matt

maybe it's just Underpowered...
and the clutch pedal return spring didn't have enough 'pull' when it was floored
it may be master cylinder(fluid low/leak) or pressure plate fingers.
I had the same problem happen a few times in my S4. They never found any problems or could recreate it.
I suggest you take a picture if it happens again

Re: maybe it's just Underpowered...
Thanks for the suggestion. It goes in for an oil change next week and I will have them look at it along with about 2 other problems.

That VIN doesn't appear to be correct
If that VIN was correct, there would be over 900,000 RS4's running around.
The (correct) VIN will show the time the car was built. The earlier ones had a problem with the clutch hydraulic hose. The problem you describe sounds like what others have experienced with the bad hose. For example, my car was delivered in early Sept. of 2006 and was delayed while the hose was installed by Audi at port. After that approximate time, the fix was applied in Germany.
Hope you get it sorted out.
