Default Mugello Blue

I've been lurking on this site for awhile and decided that it was finally time for me to join in as I'm going to order an RS4. After searching the forum, like a lot of people, I'm stuck on which color to choose. I've narrowed it down to two, but I'm leaning towards the Mugello Blue. Since I'll be leasing this car I'm not worried about resale. My concern is more about how it looks, is it hard to keep clean (specially in winter), and stone chips. I've seen pics on this forum of an RS4 in MBlue that looked purple??? Just wanted people whom have bought this color to give me their thoughts. I also would like opinions on interior color. My other color is Avus, but I have to say that most pics I've seen, the darker colors look nicer on this car IMO. Thanks

Default I have Mugello (RS6) - no real issues keeping clean - far easier than black...

as to stone chips, you'll get a white mark like any darker color but fyi I put clear bra on the front bumper, leading edge of hood, side sills. I have the silver interior, and personally like the contrast (vs. black on blue). Good luck, I'm sure you'll love the car regardless of the color you choose!

Default A pic of Mugello blue pearl effect RS4 sedan was once posted on S4 (B7 platform 2005.5+) Forum.

The pic is invisible on the post now (link at the bottom), so I post it here again. Thank you super geiles S4. It is obviously very nice color.

Mugello blue looks darker on the Audi RS 4 brochure.

I took this pic in a certain hotel in Tokyo Oct. 13, 2005. This pic shows poor color matching among panels, and a little purple element in the color.
This car was The cobalt blue Cayman S presented in Tokyo Motor Show 2005.

I took this pic in the Porsche booth in Tokyo Motor Show Oct. 27, 2005. It was the same car, but the pic shows a different color. Blue is difficult to take a faithful pic.

Default "Far easier than black." Isn't that kinda like saying, "he's the...

Default :) Very true!

Mugello looks quite a lot like santorin blue which was probably a bit lighter shade but was also very difficult to keep clean and swirl-free.

Mugello looks fantastic but definitely needs some sort of protection to stay perfect. Oh, and don't let the dealer wash the car! My dealer washed my santorin blue A3 and it was covered with swirl marks from day 1.

Wow those are great pics. The blue is really nice on the RS4. The color is very classy. I really like the contrast between the door mirrors, wheels and the Mugello Blue color.

Is it possible to buff or wax out? I'm guessing this will happen to all dark color cars.

I'd say swirl marks are practically unavoidable on dark colors. No matter how careful you are, you'll get them sooner or later. I guess we just have to learn to live with them It's possible to buff out the swirl marks but I've yet to find a wax that hides them well. You should leave the buffing to professionals, though.

Keeping the car clean and waxing it often helps and a few swirl marks won't spoil the car. My santorin blue A3 was difficult to keep clean but it looked so good that I didn't have any regrets about the color I chose.

My current car and two previous ones have been silver. Very easy to keep clean and no swirl marks but still I've decided that my next car will definitely be black or darkish blue.
