Default My dyno plot and me.

Well here it is.. Whats strange (other than the hokey printout which doesn't state my max torque) is that there is no bump in HP when the flaps open up at about 5500rpm (see RIRS4's dyno).

And whats even more strange, is that subjectively, I feel a kick in the pants at 5500rpm+/- indicating that there probably should be a bump around then. So I wonder whats going on?

This was run on a dyno dynamics at KTR performance in Taxachusetts. They said that on their dyno, this translates into roughly 400hp+/-. This dyno was run at 4900mi to see what will happen in the future, in terms of the engine becoming fully broken in. Of course any future runs will assume reproducibility, similar atmospheric conditions, as well as the correct orientations of the planets Uranus and Myanus for the results to be fully comparable, but I'm still trying

IIRC that dyno is notorious for giving out very low figures.

Default Ya.. I have no problem with the absolute numbers, rather why there was no 5500 rpm bump and

what the relative increase in HP will be when the engine is fully broken in.

Thats the goal of the experiment

Default Your feel of power at 5500rpm is relatively consistent with that dyno...

that's where you start making the power. I'm not sure everyone will show a "bump" there but you do show very nice linear power. I agree with Jet that 290whp on many DD dynos is similar to 330whp on many mustang and dynojets (give or take 20whp for each).

Actually, I DO see a bit of a bump around 5500rpm. The curve gets steeper at exactly that point.

Default Well, actually the dyno chart implies linear increase in power, whereas I am feeling

a nonlinear increase in power.. In other words, at 5500rpm I feel not a surge in power, but a sudden and well defined bump in acceleration. Much like a turbo would give.. So I expected a similar plot to RIRS4's.

Default My S4 with chip/dps/exhaust/94 octane made 268 to the wheels on the same dyno.

seems about right. I presume ESP was turned off?

Default My Golf R32 put down like 340HP at all wheels on that same dyno (exactly what it should have)...

They've got the best dyno, by far. Everyone calls it the "heartbreaker" because it's so accurate.

Default Not sure how accurate they are. They show upwards of 35% drivetrain loss...

on quattro cars. I've seen 108whp baselines on the 170chp A4 on them.

Default So I guess I should shift at 7600 rpms for optimal acceleration as anything else...

seems like a waste of time.
