Nav Freaking out, constantly rebooting
And once it totally crapped out, I got some gold error message in asian characters on the screen, then underneath it said "check cd-rom". It stayed like that for 1/2 hour and then all of a sudden it booted up.
But generally it constantly keeps rebooting itself and often when it does work it says the nav disc is unreadable, so I eject it and put it back in and it works. It reboots itself even with the nav disc out, so I dont think its the disc itself.

Try a self reset of the system....
Turn the unit off
Hold the power button for about 30 seconds until the unit turns off by itself (when you start holding the button the unit will turn back on)
After it turns off let go of the button and wait for it to reboot itself
If that doesn't fix the problem go to the dealer

Re: Nav Freaking out, constantly rebooting
Could be a bad NAV DVD, DVD drive, corrupt firmware or defective memory chip causing the firmware to crash. The NAV unit has a so called watchdog built in. The watchdog is a hardware countdown that when it reaches zero it triggers a reboot. If everything's working properly, the firmware will periodically reset the countdown to indicate that the system is still alive. If the firmware crashed or the system has some other problem that reset routine won't be executed and once the watchdog counter reaches zero it assumes the unit is dead and initiates a reboot.
