Default Need help with stock exhaust removal.

We were thinking of changing my exhaust next week. Is it pretty straight forward in removing the stock exhaust...exhaust valves. TIA!

I just did it last weekend to put on a Magnaflow. It was fairly easy, pull the vacuum lines off and plug them and tuck them out of the way, unbolt the clamps that hold it on to the down pipes, and unbolt the exhaust hanger mounts from the body and it should come right off. I thought it was easier to take the hanger mounts off than to try to get the hangers out of the rubber while under the car.

so I guess it's easier to unplug it from the exhaust. what did you use to plug the vacuum lines? BTW, did you also hear the milltek non-res/non-valved exhaust? what was the difference in sound compared to magna? TIA!

Here's a link with photos and step-by-step. Note: The hangers will pop right out with one squeeze of the channellocks. Check it out.

AutoZone (or a similar auto parts store)sells plugs for vacuum lines of different sizes. I plugged the valve body stub and the T-fitting (after removal of the hose section between the T-fitting and the valve body). I hope this helps you.

I have to admit, if you find a good muffler shop - not a brand name, but a really good hole in the wall place - it's almost not worth the effort. I paid $75 to have my Tubi perfectly installed, with the factory exhaust packaged neatly in the trunk.

With my old S4, I paid the dealer $150 to botch the Miltech install. The same muffler shop completely uninstalled and reinstalled in perfectly, also $75. It's just not worth the hassle at that price.
