Default New '08 Sprint Blue & curious about laser jammers

Have only put about 100 miles already luving it.

I am thinking of installing radar and a lasar jammer but not sure on the various state laws. I drive in NY mostly and NJ and PA frequently....does anyone know the laws for those states. I checked http://www.guysoflidar.com/faq.html but the info from here seems to conflict some of what I have heard from educated sources. Anyone know?

Default Try this...

...should give you the info your looking for on both jammers & radar detectors. Page is "New Jersey" specific...but includes national information as well.

CLICKY

Well LPP is considered a parking assist device that operates on LIDAR wavelength, so legal

Default Try telling that to a VA cop. If jamming is illegal it doens't matter what else it does...

The reason LPP and Target Lasertrack package their jammers with other goodies is b/c it's illegal to advertise a laser jammer in Europe (I might not have 100% of the details), so they advertise it as a parking assist or garage opener that also jams.

When I have driven through states where it is illegal to have one, I just shut it off and take down my V1 (if radar is also illegal). I know in VA if they get jammed you getting pulled over.

Default a) they don't know they are getting jammed most of the time b) FCC doesnt regulate lidar so unless

there are other laws in place, jamming LIDAR is not illegal
c) its easily defeatable in court since some types of cruise control uses the identical light spectrum so its not your fault that:
d) its a FUNCTIONAL parking assist device. We have no stock front directed parking assist device, and I dont feel like putting my $70k car into the wall trying to park it. You can demonstrate it, show them the manual, etc. But that involves going to court, a pain in the ***.

Point A) is your best defense.. When I have jammed cops, they just have no clue what is going on. I saw one at night put on his dome light and start looking at the Lidar gun as if its broken.

They can always give you a ticket for looking at you wrong, that doesnt make it right. I mean, my IS300 was pulled over for the size of its STOCK exhaust !!! (no ticket) I got pulled over for tint on my RS4 for having the rear sunshade up (no ticket).. etc.
