Default NEW Discs Already!!!!

So i take my rs4 into an Audi dealer ive been recommended by track organizer, as a audi fan/track freak for oil change and brake pad check, its done 6 track days and has 13,000klms on the clock.

They call me up and say hey , needs new pads 800 buck aussie dollars, sure i say, ive driven it hard , nothing i wasnt expecting..oh and you have reached the minimum thickness of yer dics, im reluctant to release car before you put new discs on also $1100 each......oh yeah and theres a far bit of wear on the bushes, we need to replace those also....MMMMMM ...............oh and while ive got you on the phone the catolitik converters are "rattley" ive ordered you new ones, that will be warranty. so what i thought would be a warm and fuzzy oil change ..is turning into what looks like a $4000 "stop in" your thoughts on that please guys....

Also your thoughts on this comment from a techinician....when tracking a car 1-2 times a month expect to replace the discs everytime you replace the pads!!!!! Jesus christ!!!! now my pal has same car, done more track days and hasnt replaced pads or discs, is this just Audi ****ing me in the ***? or is it possible that this is just the way it is...

Default yeah, if you're going to track that much, you should probably look at aftermarket brakes.

I can't say anything about Alcons, other than the car I drove equipped with them rattled like a motherfcuker, but I had good luck with Stoptechs on my old TT....lots of pad options also.

Default Curious as to what this rattle was?

Can you describe the noise? What model car was it? Possibly the customer name so I can contact them to ensure their system is in proper working order? STaSIS brake products using Alcon components will have zero "rattling" noises on all systems we offer.

Cheers,

Agree with Bob, I track a E30 M3 and have Brembo's that get expensive.

not sure....it was a '00 B5 S4, and the owner sold the car about 5 years ago.

Default More horror stories, good grief!

are they trying to tell you that the pads wore the rotors? I can see a scenario where that happens...you got to metal on the pads. This shouldn't happen with the fronts at those miles, but the smaller and softer rear pads could go pretty fast under repeated hard braking conditions. Either way, rotors would have to be either warped or ground(metal on metal).

Why don't you go trade it in for a Holden...come away with some bucks too.

Default If I recall, sykotoy is downunder

Alex, I suggest that you work a deal with him to get Alcons down there at close to the same cost as factory replacements. He'll be ahead in the end.
