New RS4 owner, 600 miles - short review
Pros
- engine (more amazing than i even expected)
- exhaust note with Sport button engaged
- interior fit/finish
- Quattro stable feel in the wet
- muscular looks
- steering
Cons
- shifts a bit long/vague, was hoping for shorter action (similar to Porsche cable actuated)
- feels heavy under braking
- throttle w/Sport button engaged is annoying, wish i could have the exhaust note without it
- back seats comically small (ok and expected, but even smaller than i imagined)
- f'ing break-in period rev requirements are killing me

Aftermarket short shifter, I'm using a JH Motorsport, works much better than stock. Stock clutch still is the main problem. Too soft and weak!
- feels heavy under braking
look into a Stasis suspension, and a rear way bar.
- throttle w/Sport button engaged is annoying, wish i could have the exhaust note without it
Don't use sport, it only tweaks throttle curves making car harder to drive with no additional power.
Disconnect vacuum lines going to exhaust valves and plug them with some small screws, problem solved...
Can't help with the rest.

14,000 mile Owner
You will have no idea how much the rpm limits and break in limits the new engine's power. When you look back from the fully broken in 8,000+ rpm range you won't believe the change. Mine still makes me smile every time I drive it. And as an added bonus you will get to evaluate a new set of very expensive tires every 10- 15,000, which actually just makes you smile bigger as the car feels new again.
PS: Easy fix for the exhaust/throttle, many versions on this forum. Also you hate the lawyer screen on the NAV, you just don't know it yet. Fix for that also.

I have 17K on my car and sometimes I think I'm driving a manual for the 1st time
Don't know what it is but the 2nd gear is freaky especially when you leave off the clutch to slow or to fast.

Cons --> Pros
- shifts a bit long/vague, was hoping for shorter action (similar to Porsche cable actuated) --> mod it with a short shifter
- feels heavy under braking --> call up Stasis for their Ohlins kit... I've heard it feels 1,000 lbs lighter
- throttle w/Sport button engaged is annoying, wish i could have the exhaust note without it --> get an aftermarket exhaust
- back seats comically small (ok and expected, but even smaller than i imagined) --> ???
- f'ing break-in period rev requirements are killing me --> patience

Fix the exhaust with the golf tee mod

For great sound without the annoying over-hyped throttle you get in Sport mode:
Remove and plug each of the two vacuum hoses that connect to the exhaust valves with golf tees. You should also cap the vacuum solenoid valve inlet.

Linky

the wierd size means going shopping on the internet to find tires.
No one in my town had any tires in 255/35/19 so tire rack here I come. It's really not the cost of the tires that will get you it how often you will need to replace them.
$1200 - ???? (depending on tires) every 10 months.
