Is it normal for my rotors to be worn at 20k miles with just freeway driving?
1-I read that there is a wear sensor shouldnt it have gone off letting me know I am close to damaging my rotors? 2- Shouldnt Audi have told me hey your pads are getting low at the 15k tuneup? 3- Now I am out 1k-1500 due to a bad sensor and a clueless dealer? Shouldnt they take some of the fault? I drive the car semi hard nothing crazy but I drive it like its a race car 1/2 the time. My wife drives it the other half and drives it like its a minivan. Should the breaks have worn that fast?? HELP I need advice. I think Audi is to blame, or shouldve said stated in the manual to check your brakes at 15k, hey maybe it does I never read it lol but I highly doubt it. Let me know what you guys think.

the only way to know for sure if the sensor failed would be to ask to see the old pads.
if there is exposed metal from the sensor on the pad surface, and you didn't get a warning indicator light, then the system failed.
your driving style sounds a lot like mine, and I just replaced my pads a couple of weeks ago at 20k miles. the pads were about 1-2mm from the sensors, so no rotor damage.
after that many miles, I don't think you're going to get Audi to pay for your rotors, unless you can establish without a doubt that the pad wear sensor failed.

My Pads need changing ASAP...
Rained hard today, and I noticed the brake pedal going nearly 3/4 in before getting grip....No warning...Just had the oil changed at 22k miles, and no mention on the pads, though I asked him to check....
THniking about OEM vs Porterfields R4S or Fedoros.....
ALso, plan on doing it myself...If the sensors don't work...should not be an issue going to a non OEM pad.....
I was trying to wait till the SUmmer wheels go on, but after today, I don't feel like destroying my rotors........

Re: the only way to know for sure if the sensor failed would be to ask to see the old pads.
Well I just talked to the guy at GMG he said the pads are at about 50% but the rotors are worn down like a cheese grater and ruined already. Is this a faulty rotor? Bad engineering? So the sensor never went off due to there is still 50% pad left. I am clueless. It all started with a very loud noise coming from my front right tire. Audi said it was my ohlins suspension. Gmg says its the brakes are gone. The dealer looked at my car blamed the suspension and didnt say anything about the wear on the rotors. I dont know but I blame incompetance on Audi. What do you think?
