Default Noticed rough shifting between 1-2 for the first few miles after startup

Did a search but only found 1 thread about cold weather. Currently it's 70's here.

It's very notchy going into second, even though clutch is fully depressed. I can also hear it clack(not grind) into place pretty well in the cabin. Is this normal behavior? Does it need to warm up more?

Default Not sure of the syncro design on these, but mine is like that too when cold...

Usually I'll start it up, push the pedal in, and slowly run through the gears before I put it in reverse to back out of my driveway. It's something I took with me from growing up in Wisconsin.

I've also noticed that the engagement point is pretty far down in the clutch pedal travel, so initially sometimes my hand was quicker than my foot and I felt some resistance from the shifter. It'll smooth out, both the shifter and your driving style, the more you get adjusted to it.

Default I'll try running through gears before startup, see if that helps

I agree, I'm still adjusting to how it behaves. My 2nd gear engagement leaves a little to be desired in the smoothness area.

Not before startup, after startup. You want the pumps to circulate the fluid as you shift.

Default also a bit notchy when cold...

Once running and up and down through the gears a few times, it is fine. I suspect in the true cold of winter it is going to be worse. it is also a young transmission.

In the first year of my Z4, I could not get it into first if parked outside in the severe cold (<15 degrees) - at all - until it warmed up a bit.
