It occurs to me on the DRC failures that we may never see any real effort from Audi unless
it becomes a safety issue. Is there any possibility that this issue could endanger the driver/passenger/bystanders life? If so I have to believe that it would be a huge liability for Audi not to respond with a recall/fix once they know about it. Something a few dozen letters to corporate should officially make them aware of...
Of course if the failure causes no danger then the point is moot.

Some RS6 owners have been reporting to the DOT

Hasn't yet and probably won't...
get to recall stage.
You're right, it has to be a safety issue for a gov't mandated recall. Also, limited production and production ended could make it harder for a recall to occur. Finally, under a recall, they would have to replace/repair ALL B7 RS4's sold in US market, whether defective or not.
That's not the case with a TSB. What they should do(have done) is a TSB and treat repairs on an as needed basis. But, if they didn't with the RS6 DRC, good luck.

As an RS6 owner it is dangerous when it totally fails when you are on a raised
interstate roadway around a sweeper and hit an expansion joint. The car jumps sideways rather dramatically. The car is not near as stable on off ramps or any tight turn with any kind of bump at speed. Normal operation the car handles it...failed it feels very floaty and steps out. We have reported it to the NHTSA and they have investigated but nothing yet.

The difference is there is several years of RS4 production, there is only 1200 of us in the states
with RS6s. You have a much better chance of a recall or change due to the number of cars and therefore the larger number of failures than cen be documented.

Yes, but if it's already failed(excessive leakage over time), that will be...
immediately evident on a track...and dangerous. Hopefully those that track their RS4's are aware of the problem and perform cursory inspections for leakage at the shocks.
