Oil change

Oil change
Well I got it done in 1 hr and 50 minutes.
This is using ramps which takes more time and includes everything such as putting the oil into a separate 5 gallon jug, cleaning up, jacking up the rear and just letting it drain
really well, being detailed (using a torque wrench) drinking a beer etc.
Only casualty was one of the 10mm fasteners
by the oil filter cover and one of the oil filter cover rubber washers (fell out or wasn't
there to begin with). The 10mm bolt just let go when I ratcheted it off and is somewhere in the
engine bay probably sitting on the fireshield.
If I am lucky it will turn up one day. It might
just live in there somewhere
Biggest tips are to use a quarter as a tool for the wheel well/bellypan interface fasteners,
take out and enlarge the brake duct rubber washers. That really saves time on the bellypan.
As for removing the drainplug without oil getting on your glove hand and on the wrench it
just happens. It just wants to come out and there is so much of it
Dealer gave me the wrong oil plug (gasket/washer) so I just turned the old
one around and got a good seal
Nothing is leaking and the car took 9.5 litres
of Shell Helix Ultra 5W40

Mine was missing a rubber grommet too, my dealer gave me a bag of them.
Did you change the oil filter first, then drain the oil? There's a valve in there that doesn't release the oil in the filter housing until the filter cover is lifted.
Send me your address and I'll mail you a grommet.

It would be interesting to see an oil analysis on Helix when you do your next change
We have 80+ oil samples on 20 RS4's that have been taken by owners on this board and analyzed by Terry Dyson. http://www.dysonanalysis.com It covers most 502 approved oils and a few others. It would be nice to have an analysis done on the Shell Helix to see how it compares, and if it is any different than Pennzoil Platinum Euro 5W40, manufactured by the same company and imported from Europe.

That's a great idea, Reggie...
I was wondering who was going to do this first. I was always tempted to on my S4, but wound up relying on an oil extractor instead. I know you guys can't use one on the RS4.
