.. as I pull out from a side turn onto a 40mph limit road. Accelerate hard, hit rev limiter in 1st doing approx 40mph, change into 6th.

You change into 6th at 40mph ?????

Honestly, now that I've hit 1500mi, I hit it once a week maybe?

usually coming on to the highway in 2nd gear and then in 4th around 120 mph or so.
