Default OK I give up. Can anyone tell me the cylinder numbering?

The layout of the block, not the firing order. I just spent an hour searching the forum and eBahn.

Default I can't see it being different than the S4...

Default that appears to be correct....belt pulley side is at the rear of the engine, yes?

looking in eBahn under 'piston and connecting rod, assembly', 4th diagram from the bottom of the page shows bank I-IV looking something like this:

pulley side-------center of engine----------------

-----------------I - II - III - IV----------------

Default Not sure what you mean by belt/pulley at rear of engine...

I believe the only belt and pulley is at the front

Default i'm not sure what it means either, but that's what is written in eBahn/Bentley.

if we're talking about the same 'belt pulley', then the diagram seems to suggest the cylinder numbering is the opposite of the S4, i.e.:

front----V - VI - VII - VIII
center
front----I - II - III - IV

?????

Default This might be better. Note the injector and coil pack locations...

Maybe a misprint, perhaps they mean the cam drive chains are at the rear of the engine.
