Default Okay, all you tuners and aftermarket exhaust owners.......

Now that the power claims have been independently proven, the follow up questions are coming....

What about resonated and/or valved systems? How much power gain on these?

Just how loud is a non-resonated/non valved set-up.

Bob and Pete @ Strat.....How about some interior sound levels on all the variations of the Milltek. I think this might be a significant determining factor on which unit to buy.

Also, does anyone have any facts about the MTM system....just curious.

All good stuff, anyway.

Correct - love the extra power but this is the wrong car to make a lot of noise.

Default For a sound clip, go here....

Here's a high res audio/video clip of the MagnaFlow system.

It has an X-pipe (which helps quell noise) and no resonator (there's no drone, unless you lug the motor in higher gears at a lopey 2,000 rpm or lower), so .I'm very pleased with the system. Of course, I work there, so hopefully the audio/video clip will allow you to form your own opinion.

I'd be reluctant to add a downpipe at this point because I'm fairly confident that removing a cat will make the system too loud for my taste.

In any case, our system is a full catback, 2.5 OD with dual mufflers. I think it's very similar to the Milltek, but our has dual/dual tips.

As for loudness, I believe ours measured under the legal limit in California, but I need to confirm. I can tell you that wherever I go, people stop me to tell me how great my car sounds.

http://www.magnaflow.com/04sound/sportsound/07rs4.html</a

Default Sound clips are a nice start, but.....

while they may give an idea about the overall sound, what you hear is almost totally dependent on the speakers/amp the clip is played through. This is especially true with the low frequency component of the sound as well the overall loudness. In conjunction with the sound clip, we need an interior sound pressure level in dB at idle, 70mph cruise and WOT. All the major auto publications provide this info when they do their road tests.

Personally, I do like the look of quad tips, even though many others feel it is too S4ish in appearance. The tip size on the Magnaflows looks a teeny bit wimpy however. MTM uses quad 80mm tips. Looks perfect to my eyes.

Default That is correct, but...

...MagnaFlow's sound clips are the highest resolution I've seen published online but yes, speakers and the system on which they're played contribute to what the viewer hears.

Perhaps it's time to organize a So Calif meet so that a bunch of RS4 owners can hear it in person?

BTW: I agree with you on the tips...however, for MTM to achieve that configuration, they used a single in, dual out muffler. To do that, that means that the internal piping is necked down to less than 2 inches...which sort of defeats part of the purpose of going up in pipe size in the first place.

I submit to you that whatever the hp numbers are on the MTM system, they'd have been higher had they used a single in, single out muffler.
