Oooops I think I made an error.... please help with an oil capicity question
With new filter how many quarts to refill?
I read the online DIY and it said 10 just looked in my manual and it says 8.5.
Which is it. I just put in 9.5 and it's up to the "A" in max on the dip stick.

10 is normal. Get it at least to the middle between the marks.
Like anything German, there's a procedure. Warm the engine to at least 140F oil temperature. Then stop it and let it drain for at least 5 minutes. Then check it. Make sure the car is on level ground of course.
I think of the hash marks as the target, and anything from there to the MAX plastic tab is ok. I try to make sure the top plastic tab doesn't get wet.
The 8.5 quart number in the manual is wrong.
I add 9, then check it. When I can see the oil on the stick, I warm it up, then top it off.

I checked it a few times tonight after a good run and letting it sit for a few min.
It's right on the M in "Max"
Next time I'll stop at 9 and then top off as needed.

9.5 fills mine exactly between the marks, which is where you want it.
Many owners including myself have noted that filling it higher than 1/2 way (for example to the top mark) only makes the car want to throw (burn) it.
