Default Opinion: RS4; Maserti Coupe; Aston Martin V8 Vantage

This is not a question of who would win the race but rather if we are comparible to these cars. Now I know we are not coupes, but the RS4 gets compared to coupes all the time.

You see, I was on the freeway the other day and a Maserati Coupe came flying up on me and wanted to race through heavy traffic. When I would not oblige, he sped off weaving through the heavy traffic.

Whatever I told myself, but i'm as competitive as the next guy so its been bothering me. when I spoke to some friends they told me the RS4 is not even in the same league with the Maserati or the Aston. While the RS4 is not a coupe we compare in most every aspect of performance.

Just want your opinion as to which car you would have if it were not about price?

Aston V8, Maserati Coupe, or RS4?

Default I don't know about the freeway, but on a track, the RS4 would outperform both of those cars.

I haven't driven the AM or the Maserati, so I can't say which I'd prefer if price was no object. The Aston probably gets the nod in the looks department.

Default Agreed; In Evo Mag

I wonder why these cars are not reviewed more. In Evo the AM was 2+ seconds ahead of the RS4 around the Bedford Autodrome. The Maserati isnt there but receives similar 0-60 and 1/4 times.

I'd like to see a head to head comparo of these 3 cars.

Default Data

Here are some relevant Nurburgring times for the three cars (I'm not sure which Maserati you saw). Certainly this isn't the only way to measure performance but it seems the RS4 more than holds its own in this crowd. I think your friends are wrong.

(BTW, there is a race version of the Aston Martin which has done the Ring in 7:45 but that's not a street-legal car.)

7:58 --- 156.652 km/h -- Audi RS4 4.2 V8 FSI, 420 PS/ 1650 kg, Frank Stippler, (10/05)
8:03 --- 153.540 km/h - Aston Martin V8 Vantage, 385 PS/1636 kg, Pirelli P Zero Corsa (sport auto 10/05)
8:09 --- 151.656 km/h - Audi RS4, 420 PS/1728 kg (sport auto 06/06)
8:10 --- 151.114 km/h -- Aston Martin V8 Vantage (Top Gear 02/05)
8:18 --- 149.916 km/h -- Maserati GranSport, 400 PS/1672 kg (sport auto 09/05)
8:30 --- 145.412 km/h -- Maserati Coupé Cambiocorsa, 320 PS/1593 kg (sport auto 10/02)
8:33 --- 150.426 km/h - Aston Martin V8 Vantage, 385 PS/1636 kg, Bridgestone Potenza RE 50 (sport auto 10/05)
8:37 --- 143.443 km/h -- Maserati 3200GT, 370 PS/1614 kg (sport auto 09/02)

Default Your friends appear to be more focused on the name brands.......

Maserati and Aston being more exclusive brands. In terms of performance, build quality, design, ergonomics, interior fit and finish, the RS4 is right up there. I dare anyone to show me how it is deficient. The Ason and the Maserati probably use a little more leather but that is all. That certainly is not my definition of "not in the same league".

Default I think at most tracks, the V8 is a little bit faster

I think it's in between and 911S and the RS4 in performance. Looks wise my nod goes with the V8 too.

I heard there's no longer a wait list, and they're readily available.

Default I seriously looked at both of those cars...

I was disappointed with the Maseratti. First off, no stick anymore. Only paddle shift. Not interested in that. The fit and finish was really poor and to be perfectly honest, I never really fell in love with the look. Wasn't all that fast either.

The Aston is in another league in every way but power. The car is like pure sex. Fit and finish is almost as amazing as the materials used to achieve it. The car is absolutely beautiful. What I was disappointed with was the lack of speed. It sounded great but it didn't "get up and go" the way I hoped - otherwise, I would have bought it.

Default Honestly- they like to break my chops because I love my RS4....

I have never driven either one. The Aston looks awesome. the Maserati IMHO is like a rich mans corvette. same type of guy driving it...

The RS4 is not only the same league but a wolf in sheeps clothing that kicks A$$ that not most people dont even notice.... until it blows their doors off.

Default Re: Opinion: RS4; Maserti Coupe; Aston Martin V8 Vantage

I dunno, I like my Coupe... the AM V8 is very nice too, too bad I hear it may be even less reliable than the Maserati.

In terms of speed, the three are fairly evenly matched. RS4 has a bit more power than the other two, offset by a few hundred pounds more of weight. I think at the track it would come down entirely to the skill of the driver.

The interior fit and finish of the Maserati is very nice... close in my opinion to Audi/AMs, however, some pieces are not as tight as I would like and there is some rattling at times when I hit 100 mph.

BTW, that wasn't me... I don't challenge RS4s.
