Default OT: encounter with 08 vette...

Late saturday night I had just merged onto interstate 10, leaving downtown with a friend from work and a brand new vette (nice looking car - we had seen it earlier downtown) pulled up next to us wanting to race.

Well, I pulled in behind him and he hit the gas. In retrospect I should have dropped it beforehand into 3rd and not 4th (we were prob only going about 60 at the time) but he pretty much ran, not walked away from us - Wow those cars are way fast!

I knew beforehand it wasn't going to be a win, esp. having a 240lb passenger in the car and at least half a tank of gas but what surprised me was how quick he pulled away, I mean he was like gone - in about 5 secs at least 50 yards ahead.

Fast cars for sure, but again, I bought the RS4 for many reasons other than ultimate speed!

Agreed. Plus, I don't wear a Toupee or heavy gold chains.

There's still talk of it being a TT 4.2 - I hope that is the case

Default i wouldn't have even bothered in that situation.

first of all, racing with another passenger, you're jeopardizing their life...not cool.

secondly, the weight. i raced a base C6 vette in the opposite scenario once in my old B7S4...he had 1 passenger, I had none. From a 70mph roll he couldn't pull on me at all, up to 100....it was dead even.

if you're going to race anyone from a roll in the RS4, you need to be in whatever gear to have the rpms at 6000-6500 to start....it will seem like that's too high, but it works the best. assuming you don't blow the first gearchange.
