OT--- Local BMW dealer requiring credit report for M3 TEST DRIVES!!!
Anyone else encounter this?
Their response after I said no thanks:
"Thank you for getting back in touch with me.
The M3 has only been available for two weeks and there are not many of them in the U.S, every dealership is doing something along the same lines.
The any of those other cars does not have a follow like the M3, and for a reason. I would still like for you to come in tonight to take look at the M3.
Look at the credit app more like locking in rates. I am sure that you will want to buy this car after sitting behind the wheel of the new 2008 BMW M3.
Should we still look forward to your visit tonight?"

If you look less them 40 y/o I would probably do the same thing.
If you drove up in a beater as well.
I've had a bunch of keys handed to me for test drives and I think it's because of the car I drive up in.
If I drove up in my beater vw they probably won't let me sit in one.

That's true, but it takes more then one inquiry to effect your score poorly...
Still, I don't think anyone should let someone run their credit unless they are applying for credit.
