Default OT perhaps. Since we are in the spirit of tracking our cars (some of us are) well here's a...

Very fast lap at the Nurburgring, enjoy...

It was done in August of 2005 with a Porsche 996 GT2 RS. The 996 had a 542 HP motor and weighed in at 2825 lbs. It was broken later that year in September by a Radical SR8, with the 360 HP motor and weighing only 1430 lbs. Basically the Radical is half as heavy as the 996 GT2 RS.

The people from Radical claim their car is a road car. Maybe so because it is certified in several countries as a road going legal vehicle but it is essentially a race car with lots of aerodynamic down force. It is not your "typical road car" like the Porsche.

In any case the Radical bettered the Porsche's time by a whopping 20 seconds (no surprise there). It lapped "The Ring" in an amazing 6 minutes 55 seconds. the Porsche on the other hand only managed to do it in 7 minutes 15 seconds!

For references here are the other "Super cars" with their own fastest times around "The Ring". These are not only those car's fastest times but "The Rings" fastest times too.

The fastest road going production car was the CGT with Walter Rohl at the wheel.

Please notice where the new 997/911 GT3 falls in these times... Not in bad company to say the least!

Some cars and their times were edited out but not too many.

When you watch the video just take a look at the lateral G force (up to 1.6 Gs). Notice how fast the car accelerates and how fast it goes through corners. One thing I noticed is that the car seems to be geared too low. In the longest strait the car tops out at only 280 kph in 6th gear. I'm sure it could esily have gone over 300 kph with the right gearing.

http://www.edo-competition.de/fileadmin/MEDIA/VIDEO/nordschleife_runde.avi</a

That list reminds me of your jet fighter list : )

Can you tell me when the first Ford Mustang Mach 1, Boss, and Cobra came out? How about same for Camaro RS, SS, and Z28 models?

I've seen that car quite a few times. It can be seen with a rather attractive woman driving it too!

Default You better have a picture to back up that statement. BTW Chris is that list of the times around...

"The Ring" a good and accurate one. I know in the past you've mentioned that some times were questionable.
