The top wouldn't close today when I got to work. Brought it to the dealer and the tech got it working again after manually opening it. Said sensors had malfunctioned. Have tried it serval times after he fixed and seems to be working fine. I'm concerned that I'll get stuck in the pouring rain somewhere and the top won't go up. Any idea what may have caused it to malfunction? Also noticed that when I start the car the convertible top light on the dash blinks about 10 times and then goes off - is that normal? Any of you cab owners have a problem with opening/closing the top? TIA.

On mine, the amber convertible top warning light comes on when I turn the ignition switch to "on" for a bulb check, does not flash, and goes out within a second of starting. As to what caused the malfunction, might you have stopped it in mid-operation at some time, even briefly? My salesman warned me in the delivery presentation never to do that, saying that it could keep the top from functioning altogether.

Didn't think the warning light flashing for that long was normal. Will bring in to have it checked out further. My finger may have slipped off the top button once which may have briefly stopped operation.

Had that happen to mine twice. Vag-Com gave error code P2000 (implausible signal from switch) I cleared the code and hold the switch more firmly and so far no more blinking light.

happened to me twice as well...i had the smartTop mod installed and needed to take it out to so service wouldn't see it. they replaced some sensor and the actual switch for me...no probs yet and can't wait to put that smartTop back in.
