Paging larryV - track tire question
In your opinion, what's the best track tire out there for the RS4 (one that you have personally used on yours).
I'm planning on replacing my pilots with the Eagle F1s, but I recall your pics of the F1s after your track day. So, I was thinking of purchasing 2 sets (the F1s and a track set). . .
Thanks,
Mike

I haven't found anything ideal yet...
You already know I've burned through a set of the eagle F1's which were not good for track use, only street use.
The stock Pirelli's are actually decent in terms of durability but definitely lack grip especially on the tighter turns.
I have yet to try a set of R-comp tires like Michelin PS Cups or Pirelli Corsas, and I came very close to pulling the trigger on a set before I started reading posts on this forum and on other car forums about how great the new Bridgestone RE-01R's were f or dual street/track use. I just put on a set and although I know they will be a compromise at the track compared to true R-compounds, I figured it would be worth a shot considering their low cost. I'm going to try them on track for the first time next week and will report back here. If they don't cut it, I can always use them as street tires and get a set of pilot sport cups later. But if they have enough improvement over the stock Pirellis in terms of grip, I think I'll be happy. We'll see.

These are being released now and would give you a GREAT R compound smile

it's the replacement for the outgoing RA1 DOT tire used on Speedvision SCCA touring and GT class. grab a set of 18" old model RS4 wheels and that should also clear your brakes. afordable option and keep you from crying if you venture off track.
