I called my dealer today and they have been looking into the "wheel sale" for me for the past two weeks. They emailed corporate for me and I was told (paraphrasing) that:
1) there will be wheel "sale,"
2) pricing is now indeterminate to allow for adequate dealer margins,
3) dealers apparently have to opt-in to participate so all dealers might not have the "sale,"
4) Not every Audi wheel will necessarily be on sale.

My dealer asked me to give them another week to work on pricing. They know it is no big deal for me because these are just my snow tires/wheels and they are going to sit at the dealer or in my garage for a few months anyway.

So, I don't know what conclusions to draw. Perhaps those that called bull**** on the "sale" may have been correct. My guys still think they are going to be able to get me the wheels pretty cheaply though. I call again next Monday and post the details.
