Picked up the '07 RS4 tonight
Car is amazing. It's also eerily quiet. My B6 S4 with full Milltek (resonated) vs. this car makes me want to go LOUD on the exhaust. I can't believe how quiet the stock exhaust is, even with S engaged.
More to come. Milltek, here comes some more money...

Instead of spending $ on Milltek go to a sport muffler shop and have the resonators removed and the mufflers replaced with AREO mufflers with RS4 style tips. Guaranteed to be much loader than Milltek all for about $ 350- 450. depending on your shop. And what a great sound.

I hear you. I find myself wanting the valve option due to clients and my wife in the car. It would be ideal if the tips, including the valves could be cut off and welded to different mufflers...

Make sure to give the resonated Milltek a "listen to" before deciding. It's definitely a personal
decision. I hated the stock S mode, sounded garbled to me. The non-res Milltek was great over 2500rpm or so, a bear under that around town. I'd have listened to the GMG and Tubis too if there'd been one in town.
I've found the non-res Milltek surprisingly aggressive (in a good way) to my ear. The resonance has moved up the tach to around 2800-3000rpm or so but so far, it's manageable.

Valved or non-valved makes a big difference on the non-res especially......
Valves cut the sound on the non-res to a much greater degree than on the stock system. In my opinion, however, a car like this deserves a "complete" system. My vote is for resonated and valved. That being said, no amount of description, opinion or sound clips can properly inform you about the sound of the actual system. You just gotta listen to one. Opinions are sooooo varied. I've seen posts from people who say non-res, non-valved with downpipes sounds great and is not loud at all, and others who think that even valved, resonated is still too loud.
