Porterfield R-4 full race compound pads
Anyone here have experience with these on the track? The claim is that these warm up quickly which helps for short track sessions, and are rotor friendly to boot.
Looking at these as an alternative to the Pagid RS 14 Black. Some of the Pagid recommendations are worrisome:
Mounting new pads on used discs: Edges of pad surface should be filed roughly 45° to ensure that the pad carries fully and evenly and is not touching the edge of the disc. Do not use discs, which are pre-bedded, or have been used with friction material other than PAGID.

Porterfield R-4 info

We use the R4S (performance street) on the Ferraris and Alfas (which use Porsche turbo brakes)
If you are braking like you should (a brief firm squeeze, then let go), they are great. Not much need to warm them up, no fade, minimal dust, good rotor life. But they do squeal around town with prolonged gradual stops.

I use R-4S for street, but they don't work well on the track
Our RS4s are too heavy. I do like R-4S for street - quiet and less dust. However, I once did an impromptu lapping session with the R-4S pads and they were literally smoking during the session. Lots of fade as well.
I've used the Ferodo DS2500 club pads during track days as well but I feel they're not quite aggressive enough so I'm looking to step up to a more aggressive racing compound while at the same time attempting to save my rotors as much as possible.

I ran them without issues at VIR (R4).
Brembo recommended them specifically if you swap back and forth from track pads to street pads.
I have used them on other cars with similar good results.

Good info
I would like to swap between R-4S on the street and R-4 on the track without having to swap rotors. Both Pagid and Carbotech strongly recommending turning the rotors (can't be done with our OEM rotors) or swapping them out if they've been used with another pad.
