your cigarette lighter will stay powered also...
audis have been this way since 1996 when I bought my first one. Good for your cell phone to charge just as long as you remember to go back for it.

I use it for my mp3 player
I connect my Zune (yes not iPod 
. I usually listen just shuffle all my music. If I forget to press Stop, it will keep on playing.
I was worried that keeping it plugged in forever is bad for the car battery. May be it is ok.
