Are the Power Steering Fluid and Oil Level Dipsticks accurate when the car

they both expand when heated
proper oil check is with engine warm, after sitting for several minutes.
Audi has a hot and cold measure recommend for the PS fluid. on the S4 it is max cold, 10mm above max warm. i would double check that for the RS4, could possibly be different...you never know.

YW, actually
there was a TSB issued on the S4 PS fluid level changing it from max at warm to max at cold and 10MM above max when warm.
so, keep that in mind if you see old literature stating otherwise.
the problem was, under the old method, fluid level was quickly getting too low and causing noises from PS and/or premature PS pump failure.
oh, and make sure you add only a proper mineral oil, not std PS fluid. get it from Audi, about $9 for a qt.

Footnote: For B6S4 of course. My dealer gave me a bottle, as should any other, IMO.
AoA did not handle that PS issue very well, IMO.
BTW, has anyone posted a link to any/all B7RS4 TSB's? Dealer says they now have to input a VIN to pop them out, unlike before.
Be nice to know what to look/listen for...
tia.

check your manual.
the oil level should be measured with the engine warm, but they recommend waiting at least 2 minutes after shutting the motor down. I usually wait longer than that to check it....I'll get home, park in the garage, and then check it maybe 30 minutes later. When topping off, I don't fill it all the way to the top of the hash mark...anything above the mid-point on the hash mark seems to burn off quickly.
IIRC, the power steering fluid is supposed to be near the 'min' level when cold, and between 'min' and 'max' when warm, but don't quote me here.
