Question about headlights
I like to keep the headlight in the "auto" position. But I run into this problem. When I leave for work in the morning, the garage is dark enough that the lights come on for a several secs and then turn off when I go outside. Same thing when I come back when I come into the garage the lights turn on briefly. I am worried that this is unnecessarily shortening the life of my headlights. Should I be worried? Thanks

This won't be my concern, my concern would be
starting up the car with air con, headlights, radio, wipers all on at the same time.
It can happen if you have them all in auto and it's dark, raining, humid and hot.
In the older days when I learnt how to drive, my instructor asked me to turn all those off before starting up the car if I want to prolong the life of the battery.
I thought it made sense.
I don't know if that matters anymore, but I am so used to that that I start the engine, then radio, air con and wipers. One at a time.

I would worry more about the switch wearing out.
I have been told that the life of the xenon headlights and igniters is longer than we're likely to use. If it's a concern, however, I don't think you have any choice but to use the switch manually and turn off DRL as well.
