Default Question: Found a nail in a tire....

I have around 4500-5000 miles on the tire and wanted opinions on if I should replace the one, two, or all four.

If I replace all four I'm going for the F1 GS-D3's b/c I can get 4 for almost the price of two PS2's.

If it's not in the sidewall just patch it.

Default Are you sure it went all the way through? I have had a few that didn't. The dealer will not.....

patch a high speed tire because of liability reasons. If you bring it to a reliable tire shop have them do one of the new plug/patches then keep your speed down until you get a new set.

patch it. Had to do that on my G35 - tires were perfectly fine, even at 100+ MPH

I wouldn't have the dealers in NY do it anyway ;-)

Thanks for the advise everyone. I really didn't want to buy a new PS2 or set of tires.

Default In my 2nd day of ownership, I caught a nail in each of the rear tires

They patched them both and I have driven "plenty" fast, no worries. I'll have a new set when I hit my first DE event at Infineon in October.

agree...it's the plugs that aren't advised for high speeds. patches should be fine. even so, it would remain in the back of my mind.

the knock against plugs is having a rubber plug going thru a tear in the steel belt. it's a jagged edge that can damage the plug over time. they're really best as a quick fix until you can get the tire patched or replaced. good luck.
